Square Enix announced Collection of SaGa in a surprise Nintendo Direct Mini Partner Showcase. The game marks the SaGa series’ 30th anniversary.

The Collection introduces a speed boost option that makes character movements faster and adds screen magnification options for easier viewing. Collection of SaGa also includes a retro playstyle mode. It lets players detach the Joy-Con, turn the Switch vertical, and play using onscreen buttons in what’s meant to replicate the Game Boy’s feel.

Like with Collection of Mana before it, Square Enix added a number of wallpapers players can use to spruce up the background.

The Final Fantasy Legend, the first game in the series, made its mark through a deep and unique system where the chosen character’s species and gender determined stats, and parties could include monster characters. The sequel featured more of the same, but refined the combat system and added extra layers of depth.

Final Fantasy Legend 3 took the sci-fi elements from the first two and ran with them, featuring time travel, robots, and protagonists who could mutate into monsters.

Collection of SaGa releases December 15 for Nintendo Switch and it’s a Switch exclusive for now. Stay tuned to GameSkinny for more SaGa news as it develops.
