In Civilization games, the leader isn’t just a symbolic character. The actions that players can make are actually affected by who the leader is. In the series’ last game, Sid Meier’s Civilization V, George Washington was the leader of American civilization. Since the leader has changed, there will be changes in gameplay, too.
The new American civilization has the ability “Founding Fathers”, which reduces the number of turns the player needs to gain government legacy bonuses. Also, Theodore Roosevelt gives combat bonuses for Americans fighting in their own continent.
There are also two unique military units. One is P-51 Mustang, which has extended range and bonuses while fighting against other aircraft. The other is the Rough Riders, which are effective in hills and have low maintenance costs. Those units can be only used after the Industrial Era.
With Film Studio and National Parks, tourism is the key to winning the game in this new American civilization. And these are just a few of the many characteristics that reflect Teddy Roosevelt’s ruling in Civilization VI.
Civilization VI is due to be released on October 21, 2016 for PC.
